Posted by Luiz Felipe on May 20, '08 7:52 PM for everyone | It seems that Multiply has just updated all the base themes preparing for the next big upgrade, and now it's not possible to add any widget with "position:absolute" values anymore... So, for now, I suggest that anyone who's using it that do not edit the Custom CSS for now.
And the CSS validator just introduced seems to be a bit buggy too, adding unnecessary spaces and lines to the code, so for now I suggest that you don't edit your Custom CSS until further notice.
Theme authors: double-check your themes for errors before publishing them since now if the code has errors it simply won't load when the user tries to install it.
Update - 22th May 2008It seems that CSS Validator is fixed again! If you want to experiment and find new bugs in the validator, please report them in this thread. Thanks.

| lfom wrote on May 20, '08 They are working on it as we speak... It seems that the extra spaces bug is fixed. On the other hand, it seems that 'position:fixed/absolute' won't be allowed anymore, meaning that it's not possible to add widgets somewhere on the page anymore. =/ |

 | Thank you for the info
When do they expect to be done with the updates? |
 | it took away height and width values from my page when I only went in to change a color |
| lfom wrote on May 20, '08 It seems that the CSS Validator is still buggy, that's why everyone should avoid editing/saving the Custom CSS for now. |
 | is the validator built in? |
 | if not, I haven't used it, just change a color and save and most of my code is suddenly gone |
| lfom wrote on May 20, '08 Yes, every time you try to Preview or Save your Custom CSS the validator is run... |
 | Is there a way to put scroll back on the guestbook? because the css validator took away my height and width value as well. |
 | thanks for your information.... |
| lfom wrote on May 20, '08 Is there a way to put scroll back on the guestbook? because the css validator took away my height and width value as well. Check your code for other errors: a broken code may cause the wrong code to be removed. As I said, it seems that the validator is still buggy, so avoid editing your CSS for now. Things like width and height should be OK to use... |
 | New & Improved isn't always better.
Multiply should roll the CSS codes back to what it was before until they fix all the bugs.
Don't you hate it when they beta test new software on you without your consent or permission? |
| I think the best way right now is to wait ;-)) |
 | arrg. multiply's getting worse and worse. I'm switchin back to friendster if they don't fix this. haha |
 | thanks for this.. yah multiply is getting worse!!! |
 | oooh,,,argh,,hope i've read this first before i edited my codes,,amfffff,,will it take too long before they complete what they're doing?i really couldn't wait,,,thanks for the info by the way :) |

| afterinfo wrote on May 21, '08, edited on May 21, '08 And for those whom do not view or read the header of this thread - this is for you.
IN Multiplys recent upgrades a CSS validator has been added to the custom CSS box if it finds any errors in your code at all theme will not load Some themes even though they do not contain errors will not load properly at all ..some bases worse than others This is my advice to you do NOT save or alter any CSS code or even try to make any new themes for the moment It is now not possible to have position:absolute" either - I repeat DO NOT save your custom CSS |
 | Thanks Luiz, Just found this out now. Argh! :( |
 | thanks for the heads up ^.^ |
 | ohhhh so that's why. thanks for the info. :) |

 | I get "unexpected/error style data" when I try to put my hiding codes back again. |
| lfom wrote on May 21, '08 What do you mean by 'hiding codes'? Only standard compliant code is allowed. Hacks won't work. Also, changing or hiding the default Multiply links/info isn't allowed either. |
 | mayatot wrote on May 21, '08, edited on May 21, '08 Okay not really hiding codes, but um I have a "no right click" CSS code that I was using before and it was actually working until this update thing. |
| lfom wrote on May 21, '08 Okay not really hiding codes, but um I have a "no right click" CSS code that I was using before and it was actually working until this update thing. It's a hack for IE and it won't work anymore since it's non-compliant code. |
 | Oh great news for stealers. |
| lfom wrote on May 21, '08 Preventing right-click won't prevent anything, and it only worked with IE anyway, so anyone with Firefox, Opera or Safari could still right-click and save stuff. If you don't want your stuff to be snagged, simply don't put it online. Or use a watermark to make it difficult to do plagiarism. |
 | Well "no right click" helps in some ways actually. Thanks for the advice anyway. |
 | It should really be like that. There should be a CSS Validator. |
 | The CSS Validator should have been here already, bug or not, with something new I suppose you would say, there usually are glitches or bugs to work out.
Oh great new for stealers?? stealers are going to get caught sooner, or later...
Thank you LFOM for the news updates!!! |
 | artpool2 wrote on May 21, '08, edited on May 22, '08 the removal of 'width' and 'height' should be fixed by now! width and height was removed again silently, but for a few minutes it worked fine earlier. the whole thing is stressful. |
 | My multiply site is ok when I'm using Mozilla Firefox but when I open IE 7 Oh my God the space its too wide... I don't know what's wrong with that? I hope you can give me an answer... tnx |
 | diew wrote on May 21, '08 |
 | I try to open my site in other lower version of IE but the problem is the same... can you pls clarify this matter... I really appreciate... tnx. |
| lfom wrote on May 21, '08 IE does not comply to web standards. Simple as that. Just make sure that your code is 100% compliant, and if it looks fine on Firefox there is a good chance it will also on IE. |
 | but when will we edit our multiply |
 | but when will we edit our multiply |
 | I posted the link for this page at my site to raise awareness. |
 | oh my.. i can't change my theme tuloy.. and post it on multiply customized themes.. cause' of that upgrade.. i really think multiply should roll the CSS codes back to what it was before until they fix all the bugs.. |
 | soo,, it was not yet totally done?? |

 | I'm still having problems with my Sanskrit-based themes :( |
 | ok thanks, an do anyone know when things will be fixed? |
 | yesterday, i was able to make a new theme without a problem but today, i'm having problems with the height of my avlack banner cuz no matter how i change the value, it stays the same. =c |
| lfom wrote on May 22, '08 UpdateIt seems that the problems are back. I think that they had to roll back the system to an older version, and all the bugs are back. I suggest that you don't edit your Custom CSS for now, until it's fixed once more. |
| lfom wrote on May 22, '08 UpdateIt seems that CSS Validator is fixed again! If you want to experiment and find new bugs in the validator, please report them in this thread. Thanks!.

 | WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Is there a way to correct the layout differences between Firefox and IE? Because I use IE, some of the layouts created in Firefox do not align properly. Also, some of the custom designs say viewable by members only. I thought I was a member, but I am unable to view them. Does that mean you must be a Premium Account holder?
Thanks for your help! |
